Health. Wealth. Sustainability.

Health.  Wealth.  Sustainability. is now the official motto for both our business and our life!  With each purchase or decision we make, we will first aim to be healthy (physically and mentally).  Then we will strive to find a balance between saving money and protecting the environment.

Before we could really begin this journey we had some major cleaning and organizing to tackle.  My house is finally clean and my head finally feels clear – for the first time in years!

  • My shredder pile is huge.  The only papers in the filing box are the papers we have to keep like tax returns.
  • The homeschool materials, finished work, and supplies boxes are cleaned out.  I have the materials I no longer need sitting off to the side while I decide if I want to sell or donate them.
  • My linen closet and coat closets are organized.
  • Trophies, pictures, scrapbooks, etc. are stored under the beds.
  • I even bought some space saver bags for the sleeping bags and blankets.
  • The 35mm pictures are organized and in albums.  I am waiting to print the last 3 years of pictures until we move.  Only the “best of the best” are to go in the albums.
  • The business papers are mostly organized.  At the end of this month I will do my 1/2 year wrap-up so things are in order as much as they can be.
  • The freezer, freezer, and pantry are clean.

I can’t believe that I feel thankful for having to wait more than 3.5 years to sell this house but I really am.  We have grown so much these past few years.  When we look for our new house, we are looking through different eyes than we had 3-4 years ago.

  • We are shying away from materialism.
  • We are seeking to be “greener”.
  • We are homeschooling a different way.
  • We have so much less stuff/junk to move now than we would have had if our house sold in 2006.  Even after adding our third child!
  • We now owe less on the current mortgage so the decreased value in our house will not affect our buying potential with the new house.  Plus that house will likely cost less now than it would have 3-4 years ago.

We now have some major changes to make.  Our healthy eating journey began yesterday.   The first items to tackle  are unnecessary eating out and my soda addiction!
