First, let me say that Joy from Five J’s Design did an awesome job designing the Cloth Diaper Me Monday graphic above. I love it! You will be seeing more and more of Joy’s work on my blog in the coming months!
When we are out and about around town, we use cloth diapers and cloth wipes just like we do at home. It took me awhile to get a system down though. Cloth wipes were especially hard for me to handle in the diaper bag. My first time out with cloth wipes was a disaster. At that point, I thought I needed a solution to spray on her bottom. The spray bottle leaked. The liquid soaked through the wetbag I was using at the time. It was awful. Then I realize that we are just fine using wet cloth wipes – wet with water alone that is – and now life with cloth on the go is all good.
The diapers
I tend to use more covers and prefolds during our outings. The less I have to carry around in a wetbag the better.
The wipes
Before I leave the house, I simply take a handful of wipes, drench them in warm water, and throw them into a container. Personally, I use one of these containers meant for Shaklee Nature Bright (because I had one on hand). It is the perfect size for a day out and since it is a cylinder, it fits well into any diaper bag. I would prefer to never use plastic but sometimes it just works best.
The wetbag
If I am just going to be out for a few hours, I use a medium wetbag. If I am going to be out all day, I will take a small wetbag, a medium wetbag, and a large, hanging diaper pail bag. I put the small wetbag in the pail. I keep the medium bag with me. When it is full, or I am back in the car, I will dump the medium bag into the hanging pail. The small bag holds the dirty diapers inside the pail so they are double bagged.

Like you I tried a few different ways of handling wipes when I was out, and eventually I found a really simple way that worked for us. I just packed dry wipes in the bag. Almost everywhere I went had a tap to wet them, & if there was no tap, I used my drink bottle. This also meant that I could keep a stash of wipes in the bag & never had to worry about forgetting that I had wet ones in there that would go yukky after a few days.
