I will be using many items currently in our pantry, fridge, and freezer. I will also be adding tons of soup to the freezer.
Friday
Lunch – left overs and sandwiches with fruit
Dinner – Sandwiches and fruit in the car on the way to our evening activity.
Saturday Lunch
Concession stand food, sandwiches and snacks from home (Robotics tournament). The plan was to bring all the food needed for the day but I woke up late so we just had sandwiches and watermelon from home.
Saturday Dinner & Sunday Lunch
Lasagna – meat from the freezer, cheese from the fridge, sauce ingredients and noodles from the pantry. I did have to purchase cottage cheese. No sides – we are not that hungry. (I am eating my lasagna as I type this.)
Sunday
Lunch -Lasagna leftovers, salad, garlic bread (loaf bread)
Dinner – Family dinner – “long” chicken, twice baked potatoes, green beans, Fresh Corn with Wild Rice, and baked fresh apples and grapes -The leftovers from this meal will feed us through lunch on Tuesday. “Long” chicken is simply chicken coated with mustard, drenched with freshly ground wheat, browned, and cooked in homemade cream of chicken soup for about an hour. I called it long chicken when I was a child because it took so long to bake compared to chicken casserole.
Tuesday Dinner-Wednesday Lunch
BBQ Chicken, lima beans (freezer), wild rice I found in the pantry
Wednesday Dinner – Thursday Dinner
Homemade Vegetable Soup, Homemade Brunswick Stew, and a Spicy Black Bean soup (recipe needed) – I am making a HUGE batch of each for these meals and the freezer. We will have these once a week through February. Many ingredients are in the pantry/freezer but not everything I need.
There is no way I will have any money left over this week unless something crazy happens with the sales next week. I need another Walgreen’s money maker! I don’t feel bad though – I will have so many 12-oz jars of soup in the freezer it will be worth it.

I have a good black bean soup recipe if you want it.
I would LOVE the recipe!
I found a link for it online: http://www.recipesource.com/soups/soups/15/rec1519.html.
It’s from Jane Brody’s Good Food Gourmet book. I haven’t had it in a while and don’t remember it being spicy but you could fix that. It’s a delicious recipe.
Steve wants to know what kind of recipes are in the Star Trek cookbook.
Thank you Beth and Foy for the Black Bean soup recipes. I am going to try them both this week.
