I mentioned in the last post that we were going to discuss how the children can help raise money for the Red Cross. After some deliberation, we have decided to ask our kid’s school if we can sell baked goods during lunch next week. The children and I will bake a ton of cookies and brownies and all the funds raised through that event will be donated to the American Red Cross.
My husband and I are going to do something a little different. Following Money Saving Mom’s example, we are going to donate $5 for every person who links to their blog below using Mr. Linky telling us how you are using your blog to raise money for the disaster relief for Haiti. Link directly to the post on your blog that details your plan. If you don’t have a blog but want to share how you are helping, or if you want to share a charity you feel is reputable, please leave a comment below. We will donate $0.50 for each person who comments. We will donate up to $500 to the American Red Cross.
If donating money is not an option for you right now, please remember to pray for the victims of the earthquake and their families. I am sure by now you have all seen the pictures and video on the news and Internet. My heart goes out to the families who are experiencing loss right now and to those that are still awaiting news from the search and rescue teams.
Edited to say – Our phone line is down so I have very limited internet access today. I will moderate comments as often as I can. I will visit each of your links as soon as I can.

We donated through Crisis Response International (CRI). They sent a team down yesterday to assist with search and rescue. Thanks for doing this!
We donated to the American Red Cross this morning. Thanks for using your blog to help convince people to donate.
We donated to the US fund for UNICEF and also to a local (Kentucky)-based charity called Ten Kids whose goal is to provide a safe home, education, etc. to Ten Kids http://www.tenkids.org/. I like the idea of giving to an organization meeting general needs of the people of Haiti and to one meeting the needs of specific children. We are so blessed–I can’t imagine the losses of the Haitian people.
I donated to humanesociety.org; they happened to have a vet team in the Dominican Republic at the time and want to send them to Haiti.
We’re giving to Compassion International. I’ve also heard good things about Cure, so we’ll be looking into that. Thanks for doing this!

thank you. I will be sharing heartwarming stories that bring hope and a sense of togetherness and friendship for those who are lost and/or suffering; we all can be that friend, that someone who can make a difference, if only we look a little deeper, and dare to think a little greater… in loving memory of ga
What a wonderful thing you are doing. I pray for all the Haiti people. I am also donating $1.00 for every comment on my blog.
